PROJECT

This co-creative project between HOGENT researchers and individuals with a migration background explores gender perception in migration. Through digital storytelling and a physical exhibition, it led to a practical toolkit for practitioners, educators, and counselors working with newcomers.

Story of Gloriose

Gloriose, one of the participants shared her personal story about the education of women in Rwanda and her experience after moving to Belgium. I created a series of illustrations that support her story.

Different stories

In addition to personal stories, broader narratives of newcomers were portrayed. Tools were developed to facilitate discussions on key themes with people from a migration background. Using these stories as a foundation, I worked on concept sketches - starting with specific situations and slowly shifting to a more general accessible storytelling.
