WHAT
To inform jobseekers about a specific job, industry or training, VDAB* wanted to create digital information packages. My responsibility within the team was creating the visual storytelling for the first 45 packages.
*VDAB: the public employment service in Belgium
HOW
After researching the target audience, we decided to create online interactive packages with clickable figures and animated videos to make it engaging in an educational way. All packages were created in Rise.
Character development
With an emphasis on inclusivity, each information package has distinctive characters. Additionally, special outfits or equipment for particular jobs were included in the visuals. We developed an illustration system that served as the foundation for the first 45 info packages and can be used to build on in the future.
Concept sketches
We aimed to create a approachable environment for the interactive exercises. The challenge was to come up with straightforward, concise images while remaining inclusive. Additionally, it was necessary to communicate with those who are illiterate in the language or who lack basic digital literacy. Many ideas were sketched and refined.
Animated videos
The animated videos are used as a way to introduce the info packages and potential training opportunities to the viewers. Before starting the package, the introduction video is displayed on the VDAB page. Further on, the training video is integrated within the info package.
"Driven" is the word that comes to mind when I think of Stefanie. I had the pleasure of working together with Stefanie in the same team for more than a year. Stefanie's ability to translate any initial idea or concept into a strong and striking design proposal is really exceptional and made a dramatic difference in the productivity of our team. Development & results
The development of these digital packages was done in the program Rise. We worked with clickable elements in combination with custom-made visuals. This resulted in better engagement: training job applications have increased since these digital packages are online.
